Your body knows the score!

Even if your mind is trying to ignore it!

Bessel Van der Kolk MD and the Late Alice Miller PhD are two extraordinary and dedicated professionals that began publishing the findings of their work in the 1990's.

Their work raises awareness about the impact of traumatic events and experiences on both children and adults.

Both discovered through their work: -

- The mind may 'block' traumatic occurrences, whilst the body can't forget

Miller has mentioned in her work that, she has heard patients relate the profound effect they were able to experience during non talk therapies.

Holistic therapies - Traditional Chinese medicine, Acupressure, Reflexology, Reiki and others - have worked from the basis of this principle for many centuries; that the body carries trauma at a cellular level.

As we 'store' or 'hold' an experience (good and bad, and often subconsciously) - this in turn can create imbalances and stagnation in the body, which, even at a subtle level, can impact the physical, mental and emotional balance and wellbeing of an individual.

We all respond to traumatic events in a different way and so, how trauma is ‘stored’ in our anatomy, will be a reflection of our inherited DNA, life experiences and living environment(s)

The deep state of relaxation can help to facilitate a 'release' to begin to 'heal' from former events and episodes. A gently cathartic and nurturing experience

Reflexology and other complimentary alternative medicines are great for use as part of an overall health care plan. If you are suffering from illness it's good to first discuss your requirements with your GP or health specialist prior to commencing a course of Holistic Therapy
