Reflexology is effective pain management!

Dr Carol Samuel PhD

A clinical study undertaken by Dr Carol Samuel (as part of her PhD, 2007) has shown Reflexology to be effective for pain management

Where Reflexology was used as a method of pain relief -the individual patients involved in the study felt about 40% less pain, and were able to stand pain for about 45% longer

Dr Samuel’s study met the scientific criteria for medical approval

More Research

There have been positive research projects with reflexology, and client responses are encouraging.

Its estimated that at least a quarter of the UK population are using complementary medicine

The Research Council for Complimentary Medicine are helping to build a large enough body of evidence to make clinical claims of effectiveness for Reflexology and other CAM's, so that more studies, like Dr Carol Samuel’s in line with medical research criteria, can be undertaken

The Reflexology Research Project (Courtesy of Barbara and Kevin Kunz, Reflexology authors and Therapists) publishes a list of all Reflexology Research projects undertaken around the world.

Reflexology and other complimentary alternative medicines are great for use as part of an overall health care plan. If you are suffering from illness it's good to first discuss your requirements with your GP or health specialist prior to commencing a course of Holistic Therapy
